Reishi (ganoderma lucidum) or Ling Zhi in Chinese has a shiny surface of a hat and is used in traditional Chinese medicine for at least 2000 to 3000 years, but became better known among modern experts in recent decades, when modern medicine cope with diseases for which there are no medicines. Its Chinese name Ling Zhi means “spiritual power” and its Japanese name Reishi means “mushroom of immortality”. Although the West has just recently devoted some attention to it, they already use it in the East for thousands of years. Ancient emperors of Japan and China drank tea from Reishi and they believed that promotes vitality and longevity.

Chinese medicine believes that reishi powder has an effect on a man by increasing of his life energy. Today there are no known examples that someone actually became immortal, but there is a whole lot of scientific research on its ability to heal and help people. It differs from other mushrooms mainly by containing a special ingredient – ganoderic acid that gives it a bitter taste and unque therapeutic properties (it works as an anti-inflammatory and inhibits the formation of tumors).

In addition, reishi powder also contains ergosterol, mannitol, coumarin, alkaloids, lactones, unsaturated fatty acids, vitamins and minerals, adenosine, proteins and water-soluble polysaccharides, called PS-G. Those water-soluble polysaccharides strengthen the immune system and act as prevention against tumors. Moreover, they are believed to hold up the process of cell death and have an antioxidant function.

As over 2000 years of Chinese medicine asserts, reishi powder is working on five major organs of our body: heart, lungs, kidneys, liver and spleen. Its known effects to date are as follows:

– strengthens the immune system

– inhibits ageing

– works anti-inflammatory
